Unorthodox: Playing with Letterforms
This project is inspired by the architectural marvel of Nanyang Technological University's (NTU) iconic building, The Hive. Drawing inspiration from its intricate design and structural nuances, we embarked on a creative journey to craft our own unique typeface using blue foam. Join us as we delve into the world of typography, exploring the intersection of architecture and design.
Assigned alphabet: Q
Played around with the different mediums to inspire us on what we could do, any particular styles and nuances that we could apply from the trial and errors into the blue foam. Some thoughts that we kept in mind:
1. does the chalk medium create emphasis on the curvatures that is similar to the Hive?
2. does the ink method provide any significant texture that could relate to the roughness of the architecture?
Moved on rendering to have our ideas visualised but at the same time, playing around with the different textures and 3D effects on Adobe Illustrator, trying to push our design even further.
